How teacher pay is structured
Regular districts generally serve K–12, so elementary and high school teachers normally use the same district teacher pay framework rather than separate grade-level district schedules. Parish and city systems set local compensation under state salary protections and the statutory minimum salary schedule, rather than a separate elementary/high-school pay system. Bargaining occurs in some systems by local recognition, not under a statewide duty to bargain.
