How teacher pay is structured
Wisconsin has unified K–12 districts and separate elementary and union high school districts, so schedules depend on the employing district. Pay is set locally without a statewide teacher salary schedule or teacher-specific minimum; under Act 10, bargaining for general school employees is restricted chiefly to total base wages, not full step-and-lane schedules.

For prospective educators
You'd be a good fit if you want locally set K–12 district pay — a few areas have separate high school districts — and a strong public school tradition.
